John E. Lambert

School Administrator

Reverend John E. Lambert comes to LCA with several years of experience in education and ministry. John’s parents were originally from Morehead, KY, and now reside in Elkins, WV.

John’s collegiate education includes a Ministerial Degree from Duke University, Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Human Services from Davis and Elkins College, Master’s Degree in Counseling from Liberty University, Educational Counseling Certificate from Marshall University, and PhD. in Psychology from LaSalle University.

John is retired from the West Virginia Public Schools, where he served as a Counselor for the Union Educational Complex and the Duval Preschool/Elementary/Middle Schools. He currently serves as the Pastor of Olive Hill and Fairview United Methodist Churches.

John loves ministry, hunting, fishing, hiking, golf, tennis, bowling, and working around his property. He and his wife Karen have 5 children, 18 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Sheila Mays

Assistant Administrator

Sheila Mays has been at Lakeside since its opening in 2005, where she served as a teacher in various grade levels until 2017, when she moved into the Assistant Administrator position.  Before Lakeside, she taught eight years in two other Christian schools.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Morehead State University before starting her career in Christian Education.

Sheila is married to Anthony Mays, and they reside in Morgan County.  They have three children,  two daughters-in-law, and a grandson. Eric graduated from LCA in 2011, Evan in 2019, and Emily is a 2023 graduate.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, baking, cake decorating, and playing piano.

Nancy Kidd

Preschool Director, Summer Camp Director

Nancy has been a part of the Lakeside Christian Academy family since the school opened in 2005. She taught in the K3 preschool class for many years until she stepped into the roles of preschool and summer camp director in 2016.

She has earned an associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Kentucky Director’s Credential, an Early Childhood Administrator Certificate, and an Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Diploma all from Maysville Community and Technical College. She holds a bachelor’s Degree in Communications with an Emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations from Morehead State University. She also has her Kentucky Early Childhood Trainers Credential. Currently, she is enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Master’s Program at Morehead State University.

Nancy is married to Shawn Kidd, and they reside in Morehead, KY. She has two children, Callen and Anisa Hurt. Anisa is in the 2026 graduating class. She has one fur baby, a golden retriever named Maylie. In her free time, she enjoys watching her children’s sports teams compete, coaching, and serving in the ministry at Little Mary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, KY.

Gabe Helterbrand

Athletic Director

Gabe Helterbrand came to Lakeside in 2022 from Rowan County Senior High School, where he taught math for 13 years.  At Lakeside, in addition to teaching some math classes, Gabe is also the Athletic Director.  After his high school graduation in 1998, he started coaching and never stopped.  He has been involved in youth athletics in some fashion for 25 years.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Morehead State University, where he also completed all of his work for his master’s degree in Educational Technology.

Gabe has been a resident of Morehead nearly all of his life.  He has been married to his wife, Tiffanie, for 20 years.  When Gabe joined the Lakeside this year, he brought along his four children – Caleb, Kaylie, Canaan, and Cayce, and they love LCA as well!
